Make A Wish – Trailblaze Challenge

2024 Trailblaze Challenge
Sauratown Trail, Pinnacle, NC,
May 4 & May 18, 2024

The Trailblaze Challenge is a 27.4-mile hike from Hanging Rock to Pilot Mountain! This is a hike, not a race, and caters to all levels from novice to advanced outdoor enthusiasts.

As well as being an extraordinary physical test, the real challenge is to raise much-needed funds to grant the wishes of children in NC with critical illnesses. Now more than ever, hope is essential. Make-A-Wish is committed to ensuring that no eligible child waits to experience the hope and joy that a wish brings.

By supporting the Trailblaze Challenge, you will help Make-A-Wish America grant even more wishes this year nationally.

We estimate that 15 personnel will be needed with handheld and mobiles being needed.  There will be 2 base locations, one at Pilot Mountain and the other at Hanging Rock.  This will be a unique event for us as Operational Control will transition from one base to the other as the day progresses with personnel being released or moved forward throughout the day.  Participants should ensure they bring all supplies they will need for the day, food, water, medications, extra batteries and a folding chair.  Dress for the weather and don’t forget sunscreen.   Operations will be in Simplex due to limited repeater coverage of the entire route.

NOTE:  We will need to set up a base at Hanging Rock and Pilot Mountain plus have personnel along the route.  At this time I estimate we will need at least 12 most likely 15 personnel each day.  We know more after the conference call on Tues 27th.  You should have the invite for that.
