Since 2024, their volunteers have offered invaluable assistance during our annual fundraising
hike, Trailblaze Challenge. By stationing medics and ham radio operators along the 27.4-mile
Sauratown Trail, Forsyth County AuxComm provides event organizers and hikers with peace of
mind knowing that in the event of an emergency, radio operators can quickly pinpoint locations,
alert first responders, and coordinate with relevant parties across four aid stations.
Throughout their service, Forsyth County AuxComm has located lost hikers, delivered medical
care for minor injuries, monitored weather alerts, and assisted in rerouting the trail in response
to flooding. Without their gear and expertise, Make-A-Wish staff would face significant
challenges in executing such a complex event.
